Thoughtfully Designed
Hebrews 3:4 For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God.
As many of you know, I design web sites and web systems. Quite often when I see an eye-catching site or a feature that is impressive, I begin a search to find the builder of the website. Sometimes, this process is really easy, and other times it’s more challenging. However, there is one common factor that I know is true – – – “Somebody built it.”.
In our text, we are told that this same theory applies to every house that exists on this planet. Somebody built it! Now if this is the case for a mere house, what about this complex universe that we live in? Even simpler, what about this one planet we live on where living beings rely on each other to survive? Let me take you back to 7th grade science for a moment. .
Do you remember being taught that humans breath in oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide, and that green plants take in carbon dioxide and produce oxygen? Now this system doesn’t sound like something that came out of an explosion; instead, it sounds more like a system that has been created. Yet for some reason, some believe that a “big bang” could create life. Actually, from my military experience, I can tell you that every “big bang” I ever took part of was associated with destroying life or property, not creating it!.
If we could look around us and know that every vehicle, building, street, lamp post, and article of clothing was designed by someone, then surely we can look at the trees, rivers, animals, soil, and people and know they have a Designer and Creator as well. And because of the way all these things are so intricately connected, then surely that connection is proof positive that each was thoughtfully designed by an all-wise and loving God. And because He has given you the ability to communicate with Him and to live with Him forever, you should have no doubts that you are indeed a very special part of God’s thoughtfully designed system.
