He's Watching You!

He’s Watching You!

1 Peter 3:12 “For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears
are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do
evil.”

Here’s a simple message from God to you — “I’m watching!”
However, what does that mean? Unfortunately, for many it means, “Oh man,
I’d better not mess up” or “God’s out to get me because
I’ve really been blowing it.” Well, let’s turn off that religious,
“stinking thinking” (as my Pastor calls it) and see what it really
means.

This simple message, “I’m watching,” means that God has your
best interests at heart. From your perspective, you should know that we definitely
“keep an eye on” the things that are most dear to us. Remember the
first car you bought and how you kept peeping out the window at it to ensure
that no one stole it — even if it was a Pinto? Remember that perfect gift
you received and how, when you showed it to friends, it never left your sight?
The same holds true with God. You mean soooooo much to Him, that He can’t
take His eyes off of you. Our text states, “For the eyes of the Lord are
over the righteous.” That thing you are going through right now, God knows
exactly what it is because His eyes are upon you.

But get this… “And his ears are open unto their prayers.” Because
He’s always watching, that means He is also always listening. To me this
makes Him watch over me even better because His ears are also attentive to my
prayers concerning that thing or situation. It’s just like a good father
to know what you want. Yet in the process, He’s waiting on you to ask
for it so you can get it! That’s why it is important for us to include
prayer time in our prayers. What does that mean? It means that we need to spend
“prayer time” with God and not just pray.

What is “prayer time?” It’s time that we spend listening
to God! Sure, it’s wonderful to get with God and tell Him all about what
we need and want, but my question to you is, “how is He going to get the
manifestation to you if you don’t listen?” Often, you are going
to have to do something to get what you have been waiting for. You don’t
believe me? Here are two examples. Have you ever tried to get a job without
filling out an application? Have you ever tried to buy groceries without going
to the grocery store? Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Superstition
is man’s belief that God will do everything for him.” Yes, God is
watching you, and He is open to your prayers, but more than likely there is
going to have to be some “execution” on your behalf.

So why would God go through all of this? Watch over us, be attentive to our
prayers, listen to our prayers, and then require us to listen to what He has
to say and execute it? Why? Well, here is a parallel that should sum it up.

Have you ever been in a situation where something wasn’t working out
for you? You told your parents about it, and then they gave you instructions?
What’s the next thing they did? — THEY SAT BACK AND WATCHED! Why?
Because they wanted the joy of (1) seeing you succeed and (2) seeing their “words”
work! Now can I get “real” for a moment? God bless our parents,
but boy if they told us to do something, we did not do it, and then everything
went from bad to worse, the first thing they would say was, “I told you….”
or “didn’t I tell you….” All because they wanted to see
their “words” work in our lives. The same is true for our Heavenly
Father. He deeply desires to see His Word work in our lives.

On top of all of this, while He is looking and listening, He is also launching
an attack on our enemies. The latter part of our text states, “but the
face of the Lord is against them that do evil.” Now the face of the Lord
denotes the PRESENCE of the Lord, and His presence is not only present tense
but also future tense. Every where you are going to go, His presence has already
been there. Every where you are, His presence is already there! Now I’ve
just got to say it the way it’s got to be said —- “Ain’t
no demons, devils, or imps going to stay in His presence without getting opposed,
frustrated, or defeated. The presence of God has defeated them, so you really
don’t have to do anything except remain who you are in God and stay on
the course He has set for you. Because His eyes are upon you and His presence
is around you, He’s watching you to see His word come to pass in your
life! Make Him proud!!!!
