The Power of Expectation – Part II
Expecting Him To “Do It Again”

Matthew 14th Chapter

35  And when the men of that place
had knowledge of him, they sent out into all that country round about, and
brought unto him all that were diseased; 36 And besought him
that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were
made perfectly whole.

It is so gratifying to see a brother/sister saved from a trial/tribulation they are going through or have gone through. When their deliverance comes God is trying
to show us that He is a way out of that particular situation. This is why the bible is filled with so many
miracles of deliverance, healing and restoration to show us that “God did it
before and He can do it again.” Our text is an example of a few people who
realized, “Hey… God did it before and He can do it again.” However, there are a few things we need to
have for this to occur; we will list
two:

(1) The Knowledge
The 35th verse states this: “And when the men of
that place had KNOWLEDGE of him.”
Knowledge is a key element in deliverance.

Romans 10:17 So
then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

How can we get the expectation of deliverance if we don’t
know that we are supposed to be delivered?
How can anyone know the salvation of Christ if they never heard His
name? Therefore, knowledge of the
Deliverance/Deliverer is a must to getting the deliverance itself. Even though these men had knowledge of Jesus
they had to do something else. They
needed something else to get deliverance not for only themselves but also for
others. What was it they needed? “An Expectation” — or in this case — “The
expectation for Jesus to do it again.”

(2) The Expectation
So what do we mean, the expectation to do it again? Well first let’s continue with the 35th
verse: “they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto him
all that were diseased.” Now of course
Jesus had seen this before and He knew what He was going to do, but let’s shift
our focus to the crowd.

36(a) And
besought him that they might only TOUCH THE HEM OF HIS GARMENT:

Wait a minute. Wait
just a minute. Haven’t we seen this
before? I’m sure we have.

Matthew 9:21
For she said within herself, If I may but TOUCH HIS GARMENT, I
shall be whole. 22
But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of
good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from
that hour.

Let’s quickly go back to the 35th verse which states, “That the men had
knowledge of Jesus.” Now if they had
knowledge of Jesus then I’m sure they had heard of when He healed the woman
with the issue of blood. First we see a
woman with an “issue” and now we see some brothers with some “issues” who need
healing just like that woman did. They
probably said to each other, “Look man!!!!
This thang worked for that woman and I know it will work for me.” Based on knowledge, they applied a principle
of faith and got what that woman got — Made whole.

Matthew 9:22
But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of
good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman WAS MADE
WHOLE
from that hour. [The Woman]

Matthew 14:36 (b)
and as many as touched were MADE PERFECTLY WHOLE. [The Men]

We need to praise God for
the deliverance of every brother or sister because their deliverance might be
the knowledge that will work for us.
So the next time a brother/sister comes out don’t pout — shout! Why?
Because Jesus is bringing forth more evidence for our
encouragement. And by doing so we can
EXPECT the devil to be just as defeated now as he was when he was kicked out of
heaven. We are not bound by defeat
because we can have as much expectation as God can put in us. So Praise God for His Expectation which
empowers us and ensures us that we WILL see the goodness of the Lord in the
Land of the Living!! (Psalms 27:13)
