The Tithe – "A Final Break Down On Tithing"

Study Text – Leviticus 27:30-32

30: And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of
the fruit of the tree, is the LORD’s: it is holy unto the LORD.
31: And if a man will at all redeem ought of his tithes, he shall add thereto
the fifth part thereof.
32: And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever
passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the LORD.

As we conclude our series on tithing we focus on the very end of Leviticus.
This book gives us a tremendous amount of guidance on how we should serve God.
However, it is not a mere coincidence that the last item mentioned in the book
is tithing. Why? Because God knows that many don’t (and won’t try to)
understand how the tithe is actually good for them. Sure men are willing to
give up their time and their talent, but that tithe is usually the "back
breaker." For some it can be the one element that keeps them from coming
full-circle and being the complete children of God He wants us to be.

So being that this is a wrap-up we are going to try to keep it simple and go
back over what we discussed plus an additional item that we did not discuss.

(1) What should I tithe from?
The 30th verse states:
"And all the tithe of the land" [10 % of EVERYTHING],
"whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree," [No
Matter What It Is]
"Is the Lord’s" [Belongs To God]
"it is holy [set apart for God’s use] unto the LORD."[And The Lord
sees it as being set apart for His Father.]
Answer: 10% of everything, no matter what it is because it belongs to God and
the Lord sees it as being set apart for God the Father.

(2) What happens if I don’t tithe?
The 31st verse states:
"And if a man will at all redeem ought of his tithes," [If a
man/woman desires to make up for past tithes or pay "back tithes"]
"he shall add thereto the fifth part thereof." [He/She owes God and
additional 20%]
This is something that we learned recently. If you don’t pay the 10% when it’s
due there is a 20% penalty off of the 10%. Now I’m going to attempt to do some
math here so pray with me. (Some of you remember that the last time we did
math, it was wrong, but this time it’ll be right.)
Joe makes $1000 a month and is supposed to tithe $100 (10%).
Now if Joe does not tithe, God implements a 20% "late fee" on the
tithe. So instead of owing God $100, Joe now owes $120. In this scenario, Joe’s
action of defiance against God is pushing him further and further away from God
– which is what sin does. So what should you do now? Start tithing NOW!!!! If
you want to receive the blessings that you lost from not tithing in the past
then you should consider the "back tithe." However, the most
important thing you can do right now is REPENT for failing to tithe and start
tithing right now to receive your blessings in the present and future.
Will not tithing keep Joe from going to heaven? Well, if Joe
has partaken in Christ’s salvation then he will not be cast into hell after
this life, but because he has not taken part of the tithe covenant he has set
himself up to come under financial satanic attack, a spiritual way of saying,
"Being Broke!"—that lifestyle of living from paycheck to paycheck
and writing "floaters." You know what "floaters" are….
those checks you write just before you have the money in the bank, hoping that
they won’t clear until payday. Hey, been there and done that too!!! [When we
don’t take part of the tithe covenant we open ourselves up for financial satanic
attack!!]
Answer: When we don’t pay our tithe (10%), we are penalized (20% off of the
tithe) and we open ourselves up for financial satanic attack.

(3) Are you sure the tithe is 10% off the top? I heard that it is 10% after
all the bills are paid, and it’s only on your paycheck.
The 32nd verse states:
And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even
of whatsoever passeth under the rod, [To clarify what you should tithe from,
tithe from whatsoever you are blessed with.]
"the tenth shall be holy unto the LORD." [10% shall be holy (set
aside for God) in the eyes of the Lord].
Answer: Again, tithe from everything that you are blessed with because the Lord
sees that 10% as set apart for God and nothing/no one else.
However, if we take up the tithe covenant, we fall under God’s
blessing/protective plan. In Malachi 3:10-12, the Lord Himself tells us,
"Bring the WHOLE tithe into the storehouse [Your spiritual storehouse –
where you get fed His word] so that there may be food in my house."

(The Blessing)
"Test me in this and see if I will not throw open the
floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room
enough for it."
(The Protection)
"I will prevent pest from devouring your crops, and the
vines in your fields will not cast their fruit. Then all the nations will call
you blessed, for yours will be delightful land."

Look at the benefits of tithing. Under the blessing section the Lord says that
He will "Throw Open the Flood Gates of Heaven." Now the Lord is
telling me right now as I’m typing this, "I AM ANXIOUS TO DO THIS!! I WANT
TO BLESS MY CHILDREN SO ABUNDANTLY, BUT I CAN NOT AND WILL NOT BLESS
DISOBEDIENT CHILDREN!!! BUT FOR MY CHILDREN WHO HAVE BEEN FAITHFUL OVER A FEW
THINGS, I AM GOING TO START BLESSING IN GREATER WAYS AND THEY WILL BE
ACCOUNTABLE FOR SHARING THEIR TESTIMONY WITH OTHERS!!! WITH THE MANIFESTATIONS
YOU BEGIN TO RECEIVE YOU WILL KNOW THAT THEY ARE FROM ME AND NO ONE OR NO WHERE
ELSE. GIVE ME THE GLORY, CONTINUE TO SPREAD YOUR TESTIMONY AND I WILL CONTINUE
TO BLESS YOU MORE AND MORE ABUNDANTLY!!!" Lord, we thank you for your
word, and we receive it in Jesus’ name!!!!!

What can we really say for a wrap up after hearing straight from the Lord?
He wants to bless abundantly, but He won’t bless unless those old ways are
loosened. He said He’s anxious to throw open the floodgates, but He will not
and can not if there is a lack of faith to step out on the tithe. So now the
ball’s in your court.

Also there is a book that has been a real blessing in our lives. It’s
entitled, Money Cometh to the Body of Christ by Leroy Thompson. It
discusses the principles of tithing and supernatural benefits that go along
with tithing. We really recommend that you pick it up – "You’ll never be
the same again after reading it."
