I took my wife to see the movie, “The Color Purple.” Quite honestly, I didn’t want to see the movie, but I wanted to take her for one reason and one reason only…. she wanted to go!
During the movie she held my hand and I thought, “This was all worth it!” But guess what else, I actually wound up enjoying the movie it self, even though, my only goal was merely to honor her and bless her.
This week I’m reading through 1st Peter and came across this scripture:
1 Peter 3:7 (NIV) Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.
This also reminded me of this scripture:
Proverbs 18:22 (NIV) He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the LORD.
Two key aspects of heaven are released when we honor and bless our wives.
(1). Your prayers will not be hindered – 1 Peter 3:7
(2). The Favor of LORD is released in your life – Proverbs 18:22
Now what I like about Proverbs is that in that scripture, the LORD, capital L-O-R-D, is the Jehovah God, the life generating power of God. It is the essence of God that gives strength to the living and even life the dead. In sum, this is the power that ensures we win because through this life generating power we CAN NOT be TKO’d. This is the Muhammed Ali Rope-A-Dope, that keeps you standing on the ropes until you’re ready to swing again and when you come out swinging the enemy is going down.
So how do we honor our wives? Here’s a great start, in the smallest of ways. We need to open our hearts and that way our ears will be more open. Believe it or not, your wife is just like God, “She’s always speaking” but the question is this, “Are you always listening?”
It’s the smallest things that she says that mean so much. Things like, “yeah, I’d really like to….” and it is our jobs to fill those requests. And it could be in the form of, “This thing is broken again….” And that’s where we can show up and fix it or subcontract it out to get’er down.
I do get it, and I know that we get tired too, but if you let the life generator generate some life in you, which He will, you’ll be able to meet those needs and see everything God has for you!
You were built, born, and blessed for the assignment of husband, so my brother step up to it because God anointed you to do it!!!
Therefore my brethren, honor your wives today so that your prayers won’t be hindered and so that you can see the favor of the LORD!!
