The Diligent One
Deuteronomy 28:1 "And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God
will set thee on high above all nations of the earth."
One weekend, while in Atlanta, we stopped in a Taco Bell to eat. Before placing our order, I went to the restroom
to wash my hands. Now this restroom was "tight" space wise. If there were three people in it at one time the Georgia fire code would have probably been broken. Fortunately for me, there was only one "physical" person
in there when I entered – an employee.
The employee was a young man who was mentally challenged. Upon my arrival he was cleaning the restroom. I spoke to him and he spoke to me then he continued to clean. While I was waiting to wash my hands the Lord spoke to me and told
me, "Watch him, closely." And I did. The diligent one, was just that diligent. However, he didn’t clean the restroom the way I would have. I really won’t go into detail on how he cleaned the restroom, but he was very thorough.
In our text, we are told that if we hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord, to observe (acknowledge) and to do (execute) all his commandments, He (The Lord) will set us above all nations on the earth. In other words, if we are diligent soldiers, unwavering in faith and will stand for him and praise him when no one else will we will be blessed above all nations. And yes, just like the diligent one, your method may be different in praising him but it’s that diligent praise and service that He so desires.
As the diligent one cleaned, he didn’t miss a spot. He made sure that every area of that sink he was cleaning got touched by his towel. He made sure that every area of the mirror he was cleaning got touched by his towel. Every area of what he wanted clean got cleaned. We can learn from the diligent one – Let the Anointed One (Christ) Clean Every Area of Your Life. Don’t restrict him to the "Goin’ to Church Area" because the "Love Your Neighbor Area" can’t get clean if you do. Don’t restrict him to the "Prayer Area" because the "Living Right Area" can’t get clean if you do. Let go and Let God clean in every area of your life.
Prayer: Father, by the power that worketh within me, by the power of the son and the Holy Spirit, I commit to you this day my life through diligence. I will seek your voice diligently. I will be diligent to put your word before my eyes and to live by your word in every area of my life. And by doing so, I stand on your promise that you will make me blessed above all nations if I am diligent to you in all ways. I stand on your promise that you will make me blessed in my coming in and going out if I am diligent to you in all ways. So this day, I BECOME DILIGENT to your word and your way, being blessed exceeding, abundantly above all I can ask or think and no longer bound to anything except you!!!! In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit – AMEN!
