From Defect To Display!

Psalms 113:9 “He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the LORD.” (King James)

Can I talk to you today about transition? Right now, you are probably going through a period of change. For some of you it might be rough, and for others it might be a bit easier; however, either way, you are going though a transition.

During this phase of change, we may begin to wonder “How is God going to get me to the place that He promised me? Which doors are He going to open? Whom will He use to help get me there?” All of these are faith-filled questions, and there is nothing wrong with desiring to know these things, but sometimes we look so hard at the faith-filled questions and lose focus on Who is responsible for answering the questions and achieving the tasks. In this week’s text, I would like to show you how God places us in that position— the position to receive!

Psalms 113:9a “He maketh the barren woman to keep house…”

“Back in the day,” we used to hear the term “keep house.” Of course, it means to have one’s house in order, clean, straightened up, or prepared for company. Now, some may understand this portion of scripture to say, “God makes a woman with no children clean her house.” That understanding would not be incorrect, but it is definitely incomplete. To bring completeness to the matter, let’s look at this woman’s transition.

First, God put her in this house when she was PHYSICALLY barren. Then God made her “keep the house.” Now, I don’t see this “keep the house” as just clean the house. I see this as her preparing the house for something else. God didn’t put her in the house just to be the maid. He put her in the house to be a mother! He put her in a position to receive. Even though she went there with a defective womb, she was going to come out with a display of God’s word, and our text confirms this:

Psalms 113:9 “He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and TO BE a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the LORD.”

Our text clearly tells us that the barren woman was placed in her house TO BE a joyful mother of children. You see, sometimes during the transition from defect to display, we get stuck right in the middle by the negative words from the wrong people. We might hear things like, “Why would God make you buy that big-ol’ house and you ain’t got a man? Why would God make you apply for college and you ain’t got the money? Why would God make you start a church and you ain’t got anyone coming? Why would God make you leave your job and you ain’t got another one yet? Why would God make you believe for healing and you still don’t feel good?” And these faith-killers could go on and on and on. But if the truth be told, and I am more than obliged to tell it, God has you in position to come out with a display of what He promised you!

If you have done what God has told you to do, and it hasn’t worked out yet, keep believing that it will because it will. God did not place you in your position to be barren; He placed you there to be fruitful, to multiply, to increase, to receive His goodness, to attain the blessing, and to show off the display of His word when all is said and done.

So don’t you succumb to the doubt of others and their lack of understanding as to why God put you where He put you. I’ll even go as far as to say this, “Don’t even succumb to your own lack of understanding as to why God put you where He put you.” Just do the following:

Proverbs 3rd Chapter
5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
