Scared To Sin

Scared To Sin

Proverbs 28:1 – The wicked flee when no man pursueth:
but the righteous are bold as a lion.

Are you scared to sin?  Actually, this is a play on words.  What we really mean to ask is this: Are you scared (to)ward
sin?  In other words, do you run away
from what God has for you all because of the fears that have been planted
within you?  Often the things we fear
are manifested within us, and that’s the furthest they go.

Our scripture tells us, “The wicked flee when no man
pursueth.”  I’ve really got to give you
this example.  When I was about seven
years old one of my relatives had a neighbor whom I was tremendously afraid of
and for no reason.  The neighbor passed away
and we went to the funeral home to pay respects; however, I didn’t know where
we were going or what we were doing.  As
I entered the room I saw the casket, but I couldn’t see who was in it so I
moved closer and closer and closer.
Once upon the casket, I got up “tippy toe” and finally saw who was in
there.  Immediately, I took off,  bolted through the funeral home door, and
didn’t look back.  And of course, “no
man pursueth me.”

From this I often ask myself, “where was I  running to and why was I running?”  The answers are, “I don’t know” and
“Fear.”  I hope you see the humor in
this but I also want you to look at it in a serious manner.  We as full-grown adults often run from what
we shouldn’t, and it is primarily due to fear.   Too often, when we are getting ready to make that first step God
has ordained before the beginning of time, the enemy will send Uncle Ray Ray
around with a word, “out of season.”  He
will say, “Boy… why you want to apply for that job?   You know them folk ain’t hiring you.”  Then all of a sudden we become wicked (twisted, confused, messed
up, double-minded) and flee when there is no reason to flee.  Instead of running down to that office and
dropping our application off, we do everything we can to avoid even seeing the
building.  We may even drive 10 miles
out of our way simply not to lay eyes on that building.  I’ve really got to share this with you.

A few years ago, Veronica interviewed for a job.  She received a prophetic word telling her,
“The job is yours.”  We made it a point
to drive around that facility, pray over that place and call that job into
being.  Later she got a call that she
did not get the job.  We could have quit
at that point but we didn’t.  This was
the time that we really pressed in and activated the second part of our
scripture, “but the righteous are bold as a lion.”  I mean we prayed in the Holy Spirit, we continued to drive around
that facility and we prayed earnestly.
We also tithed faithfully from one salary even though all the bills
weren’t getting paid (Bold financially).
On top of all of this, relatives kept asking, “have they called
yet?”  Now we could have fled, but
instead we got even bolder as we said to each one of those relatives, “No.  But they are going to call.”  A few weeks later, through God’s divine
intervention, they called us and a position was CREATED for Veronica.

We can not let what we fear guide us.  If we do, then it will lead us from what God
has for us and out of His presence.
Peter walking on the water is a really good example of what could happen
if we are “Scared To(ward) Sin.”  Let’s
look at this text briefly.

Matthew 14:  28  And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come
unto thee on the water.  29a  And He said, Come.

Now what if Peter would have been afraid to get out of
the boat?  Without a shadow of a doubt
he would have sinned right there in the presence of God.  Jesus Himself told Peter to do
something.  If Peter would have delayed
doing it he would have sinned.  If Peter
would have partially done it by just standing up and not getting out of the
boat, he would have been sinned, for partial disobedience is still
disobedience.  I hope you’re getting the
picture here.

We, the righteousness of God through Christ Jesus,
need to be bold as we stand on His word.
If He’s told you to go interview for that job then go.  Don’t sit there saying, “Well, I just barely
qualify for this job, so I might as well not apply.”  What you need to know is as long as you meet the minimum, God
will take care of the maximum.  Also
know that you won’t be there alone.  The
Holy Spirit will be there too.  He will
go before you to prepare the place, be with you to bring peace in the place,
and stay after you leave to make your presence wanted in the place.

Of course this not only applies to jobs, but to
everything God has set forth for you.
For most of us, it doesn’t take much faith for us to go to McDonald’s
and buy a 49-cent hamburger.  It’s that
thing that we have to believe God for – that’s what He wants us to do.   We need to go beyond what we can do by
ourselves and see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.  We need to overcome the F.E.A.R.

Formed

Enemies

Against our

Real destiny

Remember that the Lord said in Isaiah 54:17, “No weapon
that is formed against thee shall prosper.”
He didn’t say the weapons would not form, but He did tell us THEY WILL
NOT PROSPER.  Seek to do that which the
Lord has laid upon your heart.  If it is
impossible to you, just remember it’s possible to God.  We can choose to either fill up on those
49-cent hamburgers because they are attainable or we can fill up with the
blessings that God has for us.  Yes,
those very blessings that we see as unattainable are the same ones God desires
to give us.

Mark 9:23 –  Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are
possible to him that believeth.

Luke 18:27 –
And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with
God.

Here’s something a comedian said concerning a trip he
took on a plane.  He stated that he had
some problems with a stewardess during his flight.  Upon his boarding of the plane she stated to him, “What are you
doing in first class?”  He replied,
“What you think I’m doing in first class!
As a matter of fact, if this plane crashes I don’t plan on dying
hungry.  I’m going to die full and wit’
everything I’m supposed to get.  So you
make sure that I get everything I’m supposed to get on this flight!”

To close, don’t let anyone
question what you are doing, especially if you are pursuing what God has placed
in your heart.  Don’t let them scare you
To(ward) sin and make you miss out on what you are supposed to get.  No matter what, take the Godly course
towards your Godly destiny in spite of what’s been formed against you, what others
tell you, or what it looks like.  God
will make your impossible possible simply because He wants to be glorified and
He wants you to reach your destination FULL!
