He Can… He Will… Therefore, Be Still
Psalms 46
9 He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.
10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
To all of you who got out and voted, thank you. Whether your candidate won or lost, thank you because in the grand scheme of things, we don’t want you to be upset if the Presidential, Senatorial, Tax Collector, or even the Coroner race did not turn out the way you thought or hoped it would. This message in a simple reminder to let you know that God is still in control.
Our text starts off by telling us that it is He (God) who maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth. Whether it’s Iraq, Iran, or Afghanistan, God is the one whom we can depend upon to end the wars of terrorism. I know many people were hoping for a change in Presidency to end these wars, but regardless of who is in office, it is God who ends wars and men who start them.
Don’t you worry about the price of gasoline going up because you have a God who can keep your finances ahead of gas prices. We would even go as far to say, don’t even worry about looking for tax breaks. Sure, it makes good sense to establish tax shelters, but you already have a Shelter that can take you through any storm that has come or will come.
If you got out and voted the way God told you to, then take consolation in knowing that obedience is up to you — outcome is up to Him. All you have to do is be still and know that He is God. Why? Because the 10th verse tells us that He will be exalted among the heathen and exalted in the earth. It doesn’t matter who won; it doesn’t matter who lost. God is God, and He can not be voted out because no one voted Him in. He can not be cast out of His position because no one placed Him in His position – – – satan can tell you that first hand. But God can “move in” to those places that need Him the most. He can move upon the hearts of those who never knew Him. He can move in the lives of those in authority, and that must continually be our prayer.
As the body of Christ, as believers in the word of God, and as vessels of the Holy Spirit, we need to do our part by keeping our nation, state, and local government in prayer. We need to always be mindful and prayerful that God will be exalted among the heathen, not just the church folk because if He doesn’t move among the heathen, then when will transformation in lives ever take place? We have all been there. We all have testimonies of how God turned our lives around from the mess that we were in. Well guess what? Those people in office are no different than each of us are, were, and will be. They were created by God just the same as we were. They have a spirit, soul, and body just the same as we do. And God desires to move in their lives just as He does in ours.
So keep our elected officials in prayer. Pray that they have a heart after God’s own heart. Pray that the Holy Spirit will be allowed to move in their lives and guide the decisions that they make. Pray that the salvation of Jesus will rule and reign over every office of government because when these things happen, God will be exalted among the heathen and exalted in the earth. Remember that God is still capable and well able of being God. He is still able to ensure that His will shall be done on the earth, regardless of who has been established as the figure heads on this planet. It’s our job to remember that He Can… He Will… Therefore, Be Still and know this… HE IS STILL GOD!
