Lookin’ For Stuff

Isaiah 26:3 – “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”

Can I tell on myself and give you a good laugh? I don’t like “lookin’ for stuff.” You know what I’m talking about, right? I’m talking about looking for those things that are lost, missing, out of place, and not where they should be. I don’t like looking for them. They need to be where I put them or where I’m looking. Or better yet, they need to find me when I’m looking for them.

You see, I’m the type of “brother” who won’t buy individual tools. No way! I will buy a set of tools in the plastic case where every wrench, screw driver, and socket has its special place. And heaven help us if a socket or wrench is missing. You’d better believe, I won’t be looking for that “puppy” too long. Why? Cause’ I don’t like “lookin’ for stuff.” Now beloved of God, don’t worry. I’m not obsessive/compulsive. I just don’t like “lookin’ for stuff.”

What I’m going to share with you today is that within Isaiah 26:3 is something you should not have to look for; instead you should always have it with you – – – perfect peace.

Now what is perfect peace? Perfect peace is the peace that fits the situation you’re in perfectly. It fits your problem like it was made to FIX that problem. It fits your situation that seems hopeless like it was made to FIX that situation. Just like a 3/8′ nut needs a 3/8′ wrench, This is why it is so important to have that peace BEFORE you need it, so you’re not scrambling during the crisis wondering, “will God?” Instead, you will have the assurance in our Heavenly Father to proclaim to the devil, “God will!”

You see, when you have what you need and you know where it is, you’ll go directly to it, get it, and use it. It is futile for us to stumble around looking for affirmation and confirmation of God’s deliverance. If we train our minds to be stayed on Him BEFORE the storm, then when the storm itself comes, we won’t be greatly moved; we’ll have the peace to tell satan, “Yeah… I’ve got something that fits that perfectly – – – let me show you where it is!”
