Reasons He Came

As CHRISTmas steadily approaches we should take time to look at the
significance of this very special day. It’s a day that consists of more than
unwrapping gifts, and eating a nice dinner. It is THE day that THE Savior came.
In many scriptures (I especially love those red text editions that denote the
actual word of Jesus) our Saviour states, "I come" or "I am
come" so that we would have a better understanding of why he was born.

(1) To Bring Us Salvation From The Law
Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not
come to abolish them but to fulfill them. – Matthew 5:17

The law was given by God through
Moses to the nation of Israel. The law was not given as SALVATION; it was
designed to show people their sinfulness and drive them closer to God. The law
also attached the penalty of death. Breaking even one law was the same as
breaking all the laws. It was for this reason that Jesus came not to get rid of
the law (If you still sin you still die) but to fulfill the law (To become the
BIG PAYOFF and pay the price for us so that we may gain heaven.) Therefore if
you trust in Jesus you are no longer under the law, but if you ARE NOT SAVED
YOU ARE UNDER THE LAW(This is the new law of salvation).

(2) To Clearly Divide The Godly From The Ungodly Do not suppose that I have
come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. –
Matthew 10:34

Jesus came to divide or cut off
the Ungodly from the Godly (and what better weapon to use than a sword "as
an analogy"). In the scriptures that follow Jesus states clearly that he
came to turn man against father, daughter against mother and daughter-in-law
against mother-in-law. Jesus also stated, " a man’s enemies will be
members of his own household. Anyone that loves his mother or father is not
worthy of me. Any one that loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy
of me." (Matt. 11:35-36) So did Jesus bring peace? Yes he did, but that
was not his SOLE purpose of coming. The peace is for those who belong to him
and keep his commandments.

(3) To Open Our Spiritual Eyes
Jesus said, "For judgement I have come into this world, so that the blind
will see and those who see will become blind." – John 9:39

Jesus tells us that he came so
that the blind (those that don’t know God) will see (Get to know God). Also
those that see (the sinner who sees the world’s system as the only option in
life) would become blind (turn away from that way of thinking and living).

I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me
should stay in darkness. – John 12:46

If you lived in a world of total
darkness you would not be able to see where you were going or how to get to
where you were going. But if someone brought a light, then you would know where
you were because at that point you could see. Even if you were lost you would
know, "I’m Lost! I need turn this way or that way." Here Jesus tells
us that he is the light in a dark world and even those who are lost(sinners)
know that they are lost now that they can SEE.

(4) To Give Us Life & Life More Abundantly
I am come that they might have life and might have it more abundantly. – John

Once we receive the salvation of
Jesus and begin to live the life that he has ordained us to live, we will
attain a life that is more abundant. Example – if each of our family members
took up his/her cross and followed Jesus, that alone would make our lives much
more abundant. Think of it this way – Do you remember that B.A.S.F. commercial
that states, "We don’t make the products you buy – we make the products
you buy better." Well, the Father makes Life – Jesus Makes It Better!

(5) To Make Us Into What We Should Be
I came not to call the righteous, but the sinner to repentance. – Mark 2:17

We all have greatness in us
because we all were made in the image of God. Now here is the dividing line –
when we repent of our sins and follow Jesus and let him lead our lives we then
begin to become the creation that God meant for us to be. Also instead of
hoping bad things on the people you really don’t care for – pray that God makes
them into what THEY should be. Let’s also pray this same prayer for ourselves
and not be so Heaven Bound that we are no Earthly Good. In short, don’t forget
that you were once lost in sin and had to be saved by grace.

(6) To Save The World
For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that
sent me. And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he
hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last
day. And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the
Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up
at the last day. – John 6:38 – 40

Here the Savior tells us that he
came not to do His will but God’s will. Also it is God’s will that He lose
NOTHING (specifically those who possess Christ’s salvation) and they will be
raised up in the last day gaining eternal life.

I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. – John 12:47

Jesus tells us that he did not
come to judge but to save. Judgement is reserved for those who have rejected
him and even then "the word" (the law) will judge and not Jesus
himself. In other words, The Life You Live Is Your Judgement. And….. Why
should we expect Jesus to judge us? In any court case evidence is compiled,
witnesses are sought and testimonies are stated. All of this is done so that a
judge can TRY to comeup with the just judgement. But our lives is one big
video-tape that the Father, Son & Holy-Spirit only has to see once. When
you’re caught there is no need for crying and you call Johnnie Cochran all you

So to recap let’s look at some of the reasons Jesus came:
(1) To Bring Us Salvation From The Law
(2) To Clearly Divide The Godly From The Ungodly
(3) To Open Our Spiritual Eyes
(4) To Give Us Life & Life More Abundantly
(5) To Make Us Into What We Should Be
(6) To Save The World

So during this and every CHRISTmas let’s sow these reasons into our
hearts. Of course there are more, but I just wanted to touch on a few. As CHRISTmas
comes let’s really invite the true spirit of CHRISTmas – the Holy Spirit
– to dwell within us not only on Sundays but everyday ESPECIALLY December 25th!
Remember there is a DIVINE Reason For The Season (The Father, Son & Holy

Have A Blessed CHRISTmas,

Love Eddie & Veronica
