The Good Fight

The Good Fight

1 Timothy 6:12a Fight the good fight of faith…

Beloved of God, let me ask you a question. What is a “good fight?” If you were watching two boxers go at it, some of you may say that a good fight is “on” when both combatants go the distance. Others may say, a good fight has to have a knock-out early on, and still there are some who may say the knock-out should come in the final round.

Now, let’s put you in the equation. If you were in the fight, what would make the fight a “good fight?” The first thing that determines a good fight is how well you fight. In other words, would you fight like a champ? I’m not a big boxing fan, but I thoroughly enjoy seeing one specific boxer fight. The one thing that I notice about him is that from the first round, he fights as though he is going to win. His punches have style, finesse, grace, and most definitely power! If his adversary doesn’t come into the ring with confidence in round 1, then whatever he came into the ring with will be knocked out of him by the beginning of round 2.

The same should hold true for each believer in the body of Christ who goes against the adversary. We should fight the devil with confidence, style, power, and yes, finesse because we’ve already won. That’s right child of God, while you’re smacking the enemy upside his head, tell him who you are and tell him who your daddy is. Tell him, “I’m the head and you’re the tail. I’m above only and you are beneath (Deuteronomy 28). I’m more than a conqueror (Roman 8:37), and guess what —— you are the conquered!” The word of God declares that we have victory over satan, and guess what —— you can look good while whuppin’ him up as well.

Ooohhh child of the king, the fight that you are facing shall be won. God is not going to leave you in the midst of defeat, despair, and discouragement. Point blank, He can not leave you there. He’s paid too much for you! He’s invested too much into His champion fighter. He put too many parents, grandparents, and great grand parents together to get you into this world. He’s had too many teachers, preachers, prophets, friends, and relatives give you encouraging words. He’s done too many miracles in your life to leave you in mediocrity. You are His champion fighter, and now it’s time for you to fight the good fight as though you are going to win because you were destined to win from day one of your birth. God has “loaded” you up to win, and you’ve got everything you need to win.

2 Peter 1:3 – “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:”

Stand on God’s promises and believe that you are able to keep on fighting through Him because you are. And after this, keep on keeping-on until the manifestation comes to pass—because there is one important element about the fight that I forgot to mention, and that is this: The fight ain’t over until BOTH fighters quit. You don’t believe me. Well, imagine this….

Imagine you’re toe to toe with the enemy and the final bell rings, but you keep swinging! The announcer says, “Oh my… God’s champion is still swinging on the enemy who is perplexed; he doesn’t know what’s going on. The bell has rung, but apparently this fight is not over. The enemy thought the fight was over, but God’s Champion is still beating his brains out. Oh my oh my, what a beat down. Now the enemy is down and God’s Champion is still swinging, and I don’t hear the fat lady singing. This one ain’t over yet folks….”

I say this: while you’ve got him down, keep him down. Don’t rest on the victory once you get the victory —— get violent in the victory. Press harder for more victories because too often being comfortable will lead you into being conquered. One victory is great, but I believe it is merely the initial stage of the next victory.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

The Lord’s expected end is in your win.
