Live an Abundant LIFE!

2 Mins read

Hello Ladies,

Last night, as we were exercising, we saw on the video a 72 year old gentleman who was doing all the moves right along with the younger ladies. He looked happy, healthy, and “not 72 years old.” I mean, this man looked good! As we applauded him for his years of healthy living, I began to think about the mission of the Get Movin’ Ministry and was reminded of this scripture:

“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” -John 10:10

You see, Jesus didn’t die on the cross and rise again for us to go around leading tired, defeated, substandard lives. He didn’t bear the stripes, the insults, and the agony of being separated from the Father just so we could allow the enemy of this world to steal our joy, kill our dreams, and destroy our faith. No!! Jesus came so we might have LIFE. And I’m not talking about just going to work and coming back home. That’s not life; that’s vegetation, and I was there once, but not anymore. Over time, I’ve learned that my job is my occupation, but my profession is being a Christian.

At Restored Glory Christian Center, we use the acronym L.I.F.E. to explain our mission:

(L)ead non-believers to accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour.
(I)mpact the region by representing and re-presenting the kingdom of God.
(F)ellowship in unity, displaying God’s love and the glory of Jesus Christ.
(E)mpower believers with the truth of God’s word.

As I said, we’re talking about living an abundant life. John 10:10 in the NIV calls it a “full” life. We’re talking about “enjoying everyday life” (like Joyce Meyer says) and making a difference in our families, our churches, our communities, and our spheres of influence (jobs, social organizations, committees). But we can’t make that difference if we’re not “fit for the King!”

When we’re fit, we’ll still have energy to keep moving, even after spending 8 hours at the office. Let me see if I calculated this correctly. There are 168 hours in a week (24 hrs. x 7 days), and 40 hours a week are what most of us spend at work. That leaves us with 128 hours. Okay, we have to sleep, so if we allot 8 hours a day to sleep (56), we’re left with 72 hours a week. That’s almost two work weeks, especially for those of us who sleep less than 8 hours a night. Hmmmmmm. What are we doing with that time?

Today, I encourage you to take just take a few minutes to assess your week. Find out where the time is going and decide not to let Jesus’ birth, death, and resurrection be in vain. He came so we might have life and have it “to the full!” (NIV). So don’t settle for anything less. Live an Abundant LIFE!
