Whipping A Whiney Spirit – Part VII
What Beats A Whiney Spirit: "Aggression – Wear down the demons"
Luke 18th Chapter
1Then Jesus told his
disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. 2He said: "In a certain town
there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared about men. 3And there was a widow in that town
who kept coming to him with the plea, `Grant me justice against my adversary.’ 4"For some time he refused. But
finally he said to himself, `Even though I don’t fear God or care about men, 5yet because this widow keeps
bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually
wear me out with her coming!’ " 6And
the Lord said, "Listen to what the unjust judge says. 7And will not God bring about justice
for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting
them off? 8I tell you,
he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man
comes, will he find faith on the earth?"
Any thing worth having is worth fighting for. With that said, do you know
that there is a spiritual battle taking place for "your stuff." The
question we need to ask ourselves is, "What am I doing to win this
battle?" Jesus gives us the answer to victory in the 1st verse
of our text, "pray and not give up." However, this is only part of
the solution. Well…. what’s the rest? We will find that out as we get closer
to the end of the message. So, now let’s look at our text.
In our scripture, we see Jesus giving the disciples a parable showing them
how important it is for them to always pray and not give up. As a matter of
fact, I’ve already "blown" the ending if you look closely enough at
the first verse. The key word is "always." We need to be at war
constantly because the principalities that stand against us getting our
"stuff" are constantly fighting against us. But there is one thing we
should know, and that is this: demons do get tired.
Matthew 12:43 – " When the unclean
spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest,
and findeth none."
So if demons get tired and we know they get tired, what should we do? Wear
them suckers out!!! Going back to our text, we see that there was a judge who
did not fear,(respect) God and did not care about men. Also we see that there
was a widow who was lacking something – justice from her adversary. Now at this
point, the judge had the "sister’s stuff" — her release from bondage.
But, he wasn’t too quick to give it up. What did she do? She started wearing
him down!!!! As a matter of fact, it got to the point where he just said to
himself, "5yet
because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so
that she won’t eventually wear me out with her coming!’ "
It’s time for us to wear out the demons. I mean, just like those old school
mamas and daddies who used to swing those leather straps, we need to do the
same with God’s word. Last week we discussed how confession beats a whiney
spirit. Well this week we add aggression to that confession not only to beat
the whiney spirit but also to wear down the demonic as well.
How do we aggressively confess? By constantly confessing the word of God.
Again, last week we mentioned how "sometimey" actions lead to
"sometimey" results. From our text the Lord stated, "7And will not God bring about justice
for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting
them off?" This cry is not a whine. It’s not the state of being a
spiritual whimp, whimpering or whining. Instead, it’s to stand firmly on the
word of God and "cry it out" like a town crier. How often should we
be like the town crier and exclaim the word of God over ourselves? Day and
night, which is very aggressive; we’ll explain.
When an army tries to siege a city, town or country it fights when? — day
and night. It’s not about fighting when you want to fight. It’s about
fighting when you have to fight. This is to ensure that you are successful in
the hostile take over.
Joshua 1:8 – "This book of the law shall not
depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night,
that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for
then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have
good success."
Psalms 1st Chapter:1Blessed is the man that walketh not
in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth
in the seat of the scornful. 2 But
his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day
and night. 3 And
he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his
fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth
shall prosper.
If we become aggressive and fight this spiritual battle day and night we
will have good success! We will be delivered! We will prosper! We will be
healed! I like the way the 8th verse of our text puts it, "we
will get justice and get it soon!!"
It’s time for the Christians to do the "wearing out" and stop
being worn out. It’s time for the demons to seek rest and refuge, not us. If
you need deliverance from something, find it in God’s word and stand on it —
aggressively. Place it on your refrigerator, on your bathroom mirror, inside
your wallet, on the cover of your checkbook, and in the most important place:
in your heart. Then aggressively speak that word over your situation and wear
that demon down until it will no longer hinder, but instead surrender.
